Can We Be Entrepreneurs and Nomads?
There are so many great things happening for The Stromads. Our travels took us to Fredericksburg, TX a few weekends ago. We took part in the Inaugural RV Entrepreneurial Summit, a time of learning, networking and friendship building with other like-minded entrepreneurs that travel fulltime in their RVs. What an amazing time we had. The weekend started with a wine and cheese mixer (you know Mamma liked that) and ended with well wishes, hugs and many new ideas.
Truth be told, we were a little apprehensive about the event. We thought that we would be the “old heads” and that this group would be a bunch of entitled millennials that really don’t have a clue. Thankfully we were WRONG on both points. This group was an incredible bunch that are really making a difference in their world and truly owning their lives. They are not waiting for the golden age of 62 to retire and travel. They are living the dream today! For that we applaud you!
For those of us that are the constant travelers and entrepreneurs, we know that the road is not always easy, literally and figuratively. Many of our friends, acquaintances and family think that we are on a 24/7 vacation. We know we aren’t but why let them think different. The summit allowed us time to share our horror stories as well as our most important life changing stories.
I especially enjoyed the social media presentation by RV Wanderlust. Brittany and Eric shared so many insights on how social media platforms allow your business posts to be seen. I am hoping to engage more in commenting and sharing posts, especially for those that are working so hard in their social media campaigns. We are a digital society and we must learn and adapt to the tools that we are given.
Other highlights for the weekend included Joe Hendricks Photography. His story, his humor and his eye for the shot bring his stills to life. Again, more inspiration to stop with the selfies and shoot the sky. Maybe I will finally learn how to use my big girl camera.
Jill Sessa, is an amazing business woman and we are huge fans! Her company, UltimateWPHelp.com, offers so many services for your Word Press website. If you are struggling with the behind the scenes or the maintenance on your site, it would be in your interest to look them up.
We were so happy to connect with our new friends and fellow entertainers, The Status Crowes, Michelle and Chuck! They are a little bluesy, a little rock and definitely a whole lot of funky! We hope to see you on the Festival and Fair circuit this year, or maybe in Southern California next month. Either which way, you have hooked us as groupies.
Finally, to our hosts for the weekend, Heath and Alyssa. This event was first class all the way. Every detail was executed perfectly. We checked in and were given T-shirts, swag bags and a complete program for the weekend. The Wine and Cheese party and BBQ Dinner on Saturday night were a HUGE bonus and so much appreciated. We are excited to follow your travels and your podcasts. Your dreams and your call to action will inspire many as the years pass.
We left the summit with an excitement for our 2017 Tour, and a new look at our FAME marketing campaign. We wrote about 10 pages of ideas and bullet points to immediately put into place. The infusion of energy mixed with the need to be free was just what the doctor ordered.
It’s funny in a way, this post was so difficult to write. I started it 3 different times and have attacked it in 3 completely different ways Who knows, maybe this is the start of something new for me.
Robb and I have been on the road for over 15 years and travelled coast to coast, east to west, top to bottom. We typically spent about 250 nights a year in a place other than our home. Last October we sold our home and now live the dream as full-time Nomads, aka Stromads.
At times the road is lonely, especially for those of us that find ourselves in a different town each week. Not everyone understands this “wanderer spirit” we have embraced. As we have discovered, there are more and more of us on the open road, living a life unconventional. Thankfully, we can connect via social media and share our journeys with the world.
We wish everyone safety and love. Until our paths cross again, be at peace and let’s make some money!
